Bob Berg at Umbria Jazz

Article in Musica Jazz magazine (November 1985) regarding the album Steppin’ Live in Europe by U.S. saxophonist Bob Berg recorded live on December 8, 1982, in Perugia, Italy, and released three years later by the Red Records label

The group accompanying the American saxophonist included Roberto Gatto (drums), Enzo Pietropaoli (double bass) and Danilo Rea (piano)

In July 1985, Bob Berg performed at the Umbria Jazz Festival with the lineup of American trumpeter Miles Davis, which he had joined in 1984

That edition of the Umbrian festival featured, among others, Charlie Haden‘s Liberation Music Orchestra, pianist McCoy Tyner and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers

In earlier years, Bob Berg had played with pianist Horace Silver and in pianist Cedar Walton’s quartet, along with drummer Billy Higgins and bassist Sam Jones
