Enrico Pieranunzi Trio – Triologues

Album entitled Enrico Pieranunzi Trio Vol.3 – Triologues recorded on February 11, 1991 at CAM Studios in Rome and released on the YVP Music label

Enrico Pieranunzi: piano/Enzo Pietropaoli: double bass/Fabrizio Sferra: drums

Enrico Pieranunzi‘s trio in the early 1990s is one of the best ensembles on the European jazz scene. This is also confirmed by this discographic proof, which in terms of performing approach marks, without a doubt, a step forward in the search for a free communication between the members of the trio

Putting aside the formal structuring of the pieces, the three musicians embrace extemporaneous composition by dividing the recorded material into two long suites Triologue No. 1 and No. 2: without prior choice, the standards executed within the two suites are “found” by the three musicians along the path of collective improvisation developed through seamless transition from one free zone to another.

Referring to the verses of American poet Walt Whitman, the titles of the improvised parts are decided by the trio during the re-listening phase of the recorded material
