Interview with Chet Baker

Interview (by Roberto Sasso) with trumpeter Chet Baker that appeared in the music magazine Fare Musica (January 1982)

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Chet Baker resided in Italy for long periods during which he gave concerts and recorded records with several Italian musicians, including, Maurizio Giammarco, Riccardo Del Fra, Enrico Pieranunzi and Nicola Stilo

At the time of journalist Roberto Sasso’s interview in Rome, the American trumpeter was fresh from a series of concerts at the Village Vanguard and the Fat Tuesday ‘s in New York and was about to record with the group that regularly accompanied him on tour in Europe, consisting of Danilo Rea (piano), Nicola Stilo (flute), Enzo Pietropaoli (double bass) and Leo Mitchell (drums)

In the interview about Italian musicians Chet Baker says-“Thereare many good musicians who can even go to America if they want to…they are very prepared…”
