Piero Piccioni – Rhythmando con la 013

Album entitled Rhythm with 013. The disc contains a selection of the orchestra’s performances conducted by Piero Piccioni live on radio from Room A at Via Asiago 10 in Rome in the period between 1944 and 1945

Three tracks were recorded in 1967 at Room A in Via Asiago 1o as part of a program presented by music critic and radio host Adriano Mazzoletti

Pianist and composer Piero Piccioni, under the pseudonym Piero Morgan, formed a thirteen-piece orchestra in 1944

The orchestral ensemble held a series of performances at PWB (Radio Roma), at Room A at 10 Via Asiago, which later came under RAI’s jurisdiction, between May 1944 and November 1945. Orchestra 013 included Bruno Martino (piano), Stelio Subelli (trumpet), Riccardo Rauchi (clarinet, saxophone), Carlo Loffredo (double bass)

In 1948, following the disbanding of Orchestra 013, Piero Piccioni stayed for a time in New York, where he performed on the CBS Television Network with Charlie Parker, Kenny Dorham, Max Roach and Tommy Potter, substituting for pianist Al Haig on the song “Ko Ko”
