The Copenhagen Concert

Album entitled The Copenhagen Concert December 2 – 1996 by the trio consisting of pianist Enrico Pieranunzi, double bassist Marc Johnson and drummer Paul Motian

In December 1996 Enrico Pieranunzi performed in concert at the “Jazzhouse” club-theater in Copenhagen with Marc Johnson and Paul Motian on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the opening of his friend Steve Schein’s jazz record and book store

The recorded material remains unreleased until 2020 when Pieranunzi proposes to Mona Granager, director of the Danish label Storyville, to release it. Tracks on the record work include a 3⁄4 version of Thelonious Monk‘s “Pannonica,” Paul Motian’s “Abacus,” and “The Night Gone By,” featured on the self-titled album recorded in New York a few months before the concert held in the Danish capital
