Presentation by Alberto Alberti and Carlo Pagnotta of the first 1973 edition of the Umbria Jazz Festival
The two organizers write, “Organizing a festival like the one in Umbria, allowing people to freely listen to prestigious jazz men without the obnoxious barrier of a ticket to pay being placed between them and the audience, means rejecting any possible mystification, in order to propose a discourse that revolves around the need to put jazz back on the right stage, the one that places it directly before the people.”
