The Trumpet course, after consolidating basic technical and theoretical-practical knowledge.

The course aims at an in-depth study of jazz language through contemporary and tradition-related repertoire.

The progressive work of refining phrasing, combined with the consolidation of technique (pronunciation, accents, syncopation, flip, smear, shake, glissato, vibrato, etc.), culminates in the study of improvisation and jazz language that is central to the student’s training.

Trumpet course, for wind instruments, the “Let’s Take a Breath” program is in effect to support their teaching and culture by allowing free participation in Saint Louis professional orchestras upon audition.

Choral workshop led by percussionist Giovanni Imparato dedicated to musicians, singers, and dancers. Methodological Application of the Vocal Music Literature of the Son Genre, Guaracha, Salsa (folk tradition), Rumba genres—namely guaguancó, yambù, columbia, comparsa—and Cuban Carnival Conga (folkloric tradition), and above all the ritual songs, the true bedrock of Afro-Cuban culture: Yoruba, Congo/Bantu, Ararà, Abakwá (liturgical tradition). We will deliberately try not to use pre-established concepts that could condition the excessive pigeonholing of melodic, harmonic or rhythmic lines.

Starting March 2, 2027, weekly meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Gospel Choir will focus on studying the gospel repertoire, ranging from traditional to contemporary/urban gospel. Interpretation, understanding, expression of the gospel through the body and the voice. Original arrangements by the instructor Claudia Marss.

Starting January 27, 2027, weekly meetings will be held on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m .

The Pop Choir directed by Margherita Flore (founder and director of Flowing Chords) is based on entirely vocal reinterpretations of songs from the international, modern, and contemporary pop scene. The arrangements are written with a focus on exploring vocal versatility in reproducing elements of the rhythm section—strictly a cappella—by alternating between percussive techniques and layered melodic lines. Through the study of the repertoire, we will proceed to identify certain imitative timbres of the instruments, which will be achieved using scores and audio samples recorded for each section. Good sight-reading skills are required.

Choral ensemble conducted by Cristina D’Arcangelo that performs the Beatles’ most famous songs , arranged and adapted for a cappella performance.

A vocal ensemble whose repertoire is dedicated to classic Italian singer-songwriter songs, performed in an original, fresh, and captivating style, thanks to arrangements by Maria Grazia Fontana, the choir’s director.

Accordion Ensemble

Five saxophones and a rhythm section make up the ensemble conducted by Rosario Giuliani. The ensemble focuses on a repertoire dedicated to the genius of Charlie Parker, featuring his solos—taken from the standards that were a staple of his live performances—arranged for five voices, along with several original compositions by Rosario Giuliani himself.

The great classics that made the history of 1970s British and Italian Progressive Rock alongside Contemporary Progressive: from Genesis to PFM to the newest frontiers of Rock. And beyond.

An ensemble founded as a tribute to electronic music, synthesizers, and, more broadly, electronic musical instruments in all their forms.

Accordion Orchestras

The Saint Louis Big Band conducted by Antonio Solimene is an orchestral formation that fully respects the classical big band structure i.e., 4 Trumpets, 5 Saxes, Trombones, Rhythm Section, 6 Choristers.

Among the special guests who have participated in recent years, performing on stage accompanied by the Saint Louis Big Band, are names such as Javier Girotto, Kurt Elling, David Lynx, Rosario Giuliani, and many others.

The group, formed in September 2007, has performed at many prestigious jazz festivals, including Villa Celimontana Jazz, Atina Jazz, Brindisi in Jazz, and the Nick La Rocca Jazz Festival, as well as prestigious venues such as the “Ennio Morricone” Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and the Casa del Jazz.

A young, light, dynamic formation in style with the mission of promoting new talent, the Saint Louis Combo is a lean ensemble, consisting of vocals, rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, drums), 6 horns-the beating heart of the group-and all the energy of a Big Band, in pocket size!

Combo’s strong point is its extreme flexibility and adaptability: depending on the context and the project, the ensemble uses various collaborations with singers, choirs, and electronic music artists.

The repertoire is original and innovative, moving from standards of the jazz tradition to contaminate, refresh, and challenge itself, thanks to arrangements specially created by the students of the Saint Louis Composition and Arrangement course.

Space is also given to American pop repertoire and original compositions, again by young musicians of St. Louis background.

Auditions are open to the public; free for Saint Louis students; discounted participation fees for wind instruments.

Combo dedicated to the free world of Latin-jazz contaminations. A large ensemble consisting of guitarists, singers, keyboardists, bassists, percussionists and wind players. At the piano, Natalio Mangalavite himself.

A 30-musician ensemble directed by Vincenzo Presta, the Saint Louis Pop Orchestra reinterprets the tradition of Italian and international POP music, with original arrangements curated by the teacher and top Saint Louis students.

EXTRA COMPLEMENTARY COURSES

Two-year course in Theory and Solfeggio This course covers all the topics corresponding to the annual Harmony 1 and Ear Training 1 courses in two years. At the end of the two years, therefore, it is possible to take the entrance exam for the pre-academic Jazz or Pop course. The course is structured in 2-hour lessons every fortnight, from January to June.
LabXChange. Ensemble music workshops reserved for students who attend personalized courses, directed by students of the three-year academic year and traditional diploma with periodic supervision by the Management or a teacher. Students of personalized courses can participate for free. Access to the laboratories is subject to the hearing and verification of available places.
Choir. Saint Louis offers students of personalized courses the opportunity to participate free of charge in one or more choirs: Gospel Choir, Jazz Choir, Pop Choir and other choral groups of various styles. It can only be accessed by audition.
Orchestras and Ensemble. Those enrolled in the most talented personalized courses will be able to actively participate in the Saint Louis orchestras. It is accessed by audition.
Concerts and Rehearsal Room. Students enrolled in personalized courses may participate in and perform at mid-year and end-of-year concerts, to be arranged with their instructor and the academic office. Free rehearsal/study room —up to 2 hours per day for a maximum of 6 hours per week.
