The course, by Giampaolo Rosselli, offers the basics for navigating the world of new discography, first understanding how to protect one’s works. Approaching music today means more than just studying an instrument or composing a piece. It means learning to move within a professional system of rights, contracts, different figures and responsibilities. The contemporary musician can also create an entire repertoire by himself, with a computer and a microphone in his own home space. But turning this creativity into a career path requires knowing the rules of the game.
A path designed for those who want to make music with awareness, avoiding naiveté and learning to defend their work from the beginning.
Course content and structure
The role of the producer and key industry figures are analyzed, the difference between author, composer and publisher is clarified, and the ways in which fees and rights are divided are learned. Special attention is paid to copyright management systems(SIAE, Soundreef) and the topic of mastering, which is turned on the very moment a track is recorded, even in the home studio.
The most common contracts for artists, soundtracks and synchronizations will also be addressed, along with the role of the manager in building a career path. Finally, we will look at how to establish effective relationships with a label or how to structure one on your own.
