FOUNDATION COURSE

Intensive foundation course in Guitar, preparing the students to the admission to first cycle academic courses.

Individual pop-rock guitar lessons, ensemble music workshops from trio to medium ensembles with performances in clubs in the Capital, multi-stylistic rhythm section, pop-rock harmony and ear training, Music Technology for pre-production of own original projects.

Two addresses: electric guitar or acoustic guitar.

The pre-academic course has a duration ranging from 1 to 3 years, depending on the student’s entry level and study ability.

Skills are acquired in the following areas:

  • One-to-one guitar classes with a teacher at the student’s choice, be it electric guitar o acoustic guitar.
  • Formations from trio to quintet led by professional musicians to practice Italian and international pop-rock repertoire in the hall and live.
  • Pop-rock harmony from tradition to fusions with jazz harmony, ethnic music, nu-soul.
  • Study of various styles of Popular Music in rhythm section: rock, swing, reggae, shuffle, blues, Caribbean and South American rhythm patterns.
  • Approach to music technology, sequencing software, miking, sound synthesis.

Once the foundation course/pre-academic course has been successfully completed you automatically access the three-year first cycle of academic courses of Popular music (aut. Ministry of Education, University and Research)

Job opportunities that the three-year first cycle academic courses of Popular Music opens:

  • artist and band leader of original projects
  • guitarist for live performance and recording session
  • arranger for small and medium ensembles
  • music producer
  • music author for sonorizations and music applied to images

The pre-academic paths do not start from scratch, they presuppose a previous practice on the instrument / singing of at least two-three years.

It is possible to access the first year of the course or to enter directly the second or third pre-academic year. It is possible to access the first year or directly to the second or third pre-academic year. For each subject you will be placed at the appropriate level based on the admission tests: for example, you can be admitted to the 3rd level of guitar, the second level of harmony and the first level of ear training, based on your knowledge. Each subject will therefore follow its own path at its own level.

Admission tests are usually held in June and, for places remaining available, in September. International students can sit the admission tests online from February of the previous year until June the latest.

The pre-academic course offers a choice of four different attendance modes:

  • Ordinary Attendance: Weekly attendance, with classes ranging from 6 to 10 hours, concentrated over 2-4 days each week. This mode allows for guided learning at every step, with continuous monitoring of progress. An average study commitment of 6 hours daily is required. Certain subjects offer both in-person and fully online attendance options.
  • Long-distance Attendance: The pre-academic long-distance course entails 6 to 8 hours of classes concentrated on Saturdays, alternating between in-person and online sessions each week. Ideal for students residing outside of Rome or those with busy schedules, including working professionals. The long-distance mode with Saturday classes is exclusive to the pre-academic course.
  • Teen Music Academy Attendance: Tailored for high school students, this personalized course engages students for 1 or 2 afternoons per week, with the aim of preparing them for academic courses upon high school graduation. Exceptionally talented students may be admitted to academic courses even before graduation. Some subjects offer both in-person and fully online attendance options.
  • DAD Attendance: Fully remote education option, suitable for students worldwide.
