A week of music and creativity, to grow in musical technique and live performance, in an international context, in the heart of Rome.
Saint Louis College of Music’s Music Performance Summer School is an intensive experience designed for young musicians – Jazz and Pop singers and instrumentalists – from around the world who wish to experience a full-immersion week of music studies in Italy. An educational journey that combines Saint Louis’ educational excellence with the opportunity to experience artistic growth in a city rich in history, culture and creative stimulation.
How the Summer School takes place.
During the six-day activity, students are taken on a structured journey that integrates technical lessons, ensemble music practice and moments dedicated to live performance. The days are divided between Ensemble Lab Jazz & Pop, in which we work on interplay, group dynamics and song preparation; Cover Production workshops, dedicated to the creative reinterpretation of jazz standards and international hits; and sessions to study vocal and instrumental technique to perfect control, expressiveness and approach to one’s instrument and singing.
The program continues with modules devoted to arranging, interplay, onstage communication and stage presence management, fundamental skills for dealing with a live performance in front of an audience. There is no shortage of activities related to audio recording and pre-production, essential elements in understanding the process of building an art project.
Each day ends with rehearsals for the final concert open to the public, a central moment of the Summer School: a real live performance on stage, where students put into practice the work done during the week and experience the value of shared performance.
