A unique and innovative pathway in today’s Technologies and Techniques for global multimedia markets with to its credit an educational offering that delves into every aspect of Sound Design and Audio post production, focus on different industries and related technologies and production techniques, with industry professionals.

Sound Design and Audio Sampling, Wwise Nonlinear Interactive Audio, Audio Restoration Techniques and Forensic Audio, Mixing and Mastering in Audio post production and Sound Branding in order to fulfill the demand of different Multimedia industries from Cinema, TV series and Media to Advertising Marketing and Videogames.
The Training Pathway will also see the students of the Two-Year Postgraduate Program involved in multiple projects with original realizations from the Saint Louis Departments of Composition and Music Applied to Images along with the Film, Animation and Visual Departments of the highest institutions in Academic Education such as RUFA, Vigamus and many others.

Specialization pathway in Sound Design for Cinema, TV & Series, Gaming, Animation, Media, Restoration and Audio Forensics. Bachelor of Sound Technician graduates gain access by right to one of the two-year degrees listed above. Graduates in other disciplines who have prior experience in phonics may enter upon entrance examination.

    Techniques and Concepts of sound design and audio post-production for industry. Phases of recording, construction and manipulation of sound effects and other sound material in the service of Film, TV series, Video Games and Media. Use of Pro Tools with a detailed focus on Audio Post Production and Sound Design workflow, as well as other sound manipulation software and plug-ins.
  • WWise Nonlinear Interactive Audio
    Audio nonlinearity in interactive video game sound design through the use of Audiokinetic Wwise.
  • Audio Sampling and Post Production
    Kontakt and its Engine, modulators, envelopes, zones, groups, mapping. Sampling and implementation of Custom Sample Library
  • Sound Branding
    Analysis, Composition and Implementation Mix and Mastering of a Sound Branding. From Demand to Supply in Multimedia Markets.
  • Technologies and Techniques of Audio Restoration
    Technologies, Techniques and Media in Audio Restoration and Audio Forensics. From films to tapes to digital all Restoration processes will be studied in specialized laboratories.
  • Mix e Mastering
    Mix and Mastering sessions for the finalization of Multimedia products ( Cinema, TV series, Video games and Media) in the last stages of Audio post production.

Master academic courses includes two types of ensembles every year, a permanent ensemble that rehearses all year round and holds concerts in clubs in Rome with the teacher as part of the band and a great line-up that concentrates rehearsals in one or two full-immersion weeks for concerts in Theaters and recording productions with international guests.

  • Special Guest Jazz Ensemble: Rehearsals concentrated in 3-4 consecutive days and subsequent concert with international artists. In recent years, the two-year postgraduate students have performed alongside Aaron Parks, Gegè Telesforo, Greg Hutchinson, Tollak, Roberto Gatto, Rosario Giuliani, Peppe Servillo, Vince Mendoza, Paolo Fresu, Javier Girotto, Frabizio Bosso, Gianluca Petrella.
  • Professional Jazz Ensemble: High profile ensemble, highly demanding repertoires, interplay and improvisation, fortnightly meetings with Rosario Giuliani, Ramberto Ciammarughi, Gegè Telesforo, Javier Girotto, Dario Deidda, Fabrizio Sferra, Paolo Damiani, Amedeo Tommasi, Maurizio Giammarco, Vincenzo Presta, Natalio Mangalavite, Roberto Tarenzi.

REQUIREMENTS: Three-year undergraduate academic degree already completed or to be completed by the February session (conditional registration).

  1. See the Study Plan and Admission Tests: Check that your preparation is in line with the skills required for the individual tests by clicking on Download Study Plan.
  2. Realize the video clips for the pre-selection: Record one or more videos containing 3 songs, performed by you in a group (minimum trio) that are representative of your artistic activity. The files must be uploaded to YouTube or other similar web portals and indicated as a link on the application form.
  3. Fill out the application and send links to the video clips: You can apply for the entrance exam for Level I and II academic courses from Feb. 3 to April 30 (by clicking on the “enroll” button in the upper right corner). Applications submitted subsequently may be considered only on the basis of the places remaining available.
  4. Wait for pre-selection results: Candidates who pass the pre-selection will be admitted to the admission tests, which will take place in June and September. International candidates can sit the admission tests earlier, from March until June.
  5. Sit the admission tests: Admission tests are held in two consecutive days.

Mandatory attendance to the minimum extent of the 80% of the lessons.

  • FULL-TIME ATTENDANCE: Classes are mostly held with fortnightly cadence, organized in alternate weeks, with the exception of the instrument / singing lesson which can be organized at the student’s choice on a weekly or fortnightly basis. About 300 hours of classes per year.
  • PART-TIME ATTENDANCE: Students who, for work or distance reasons, are unable to attend all the lessons provided for in the study plan can personalize their own study plan choosing how many subjects to attend from year to year. Part-time attendance implies a probable extension of the course of study beyond 3 years.

INSIGHTS

Great orchestral formations with the best talented students cwho perform in theaters and festivals with internationally renowned artists. In recent years Special Guests such as Beppe Vessicchio, Paolo Fresu, Fabrizio Bosso, Antonella Ruggiero (Matia Bazar), Diodato, Tullio De Piscopo, Chiara Civello had participated.

  • Pop Orchestra conducted by Vincenzo Presta: Formation of over 20 elements, rhythmic section, brass section, strings, voices to host the greats of Italian and international Pop.
  • Soul Train Revolution: Inspired by the homonymous famous American music tv show, Soul Train R-Evolution is a line-up of 20 musicians whose repertoire focuses on ‘Black Music’ in its widest sense, coexisting the tradition of Soul, Funk, Jazz and African music, with elements of Neo-Soul, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Fusion and electronic music.
  • I Love Pizza by Serena Brancale: An ensemble that is not based on vocal power or technical and instrumental virtuosity, but on the inventiveness of musicians in creating innovative sounds out of the ordinary thanks to Loop stations, keyboards, Pads, effects and laptops for rhythmic and vocoder for singers.
  • Latin Louis Combo conducted by Natalio Mangalavite: 16-element ensemble, together to perform the jazz repertoire with South American and Caribbean rhythms.
  • Synth Louis: Experimental ensemble that was born as a tribute to electronic music, synthesizers and more generally electronic musical instruments in all their forms, open to instruments, singers, drummers, electronic musicians.
  • Progressive Rock by Daniele Pomo: The history of 1970s Progressive Rock, British and Italian and contemporary Progressive: from Genesis to PFM to the last frontiers of Rock and beyond.
  • Twenty Guitars by Diego Cignitti: Ensemble composed exclusively of electric guitars that rereads the repertoire of the great history of Italian and international Rock. 20 guitars that play, explode, harmonize and dialogue. A wall of sound completely new.
