Andrea Colella is a musician who combines a classical background with a contemporary approach to music and especially jazz.

Born in Lecce, he took up the study of the electric bass at a young age and, once he moved to Rome, approached that of the double bass. In 2009 he obtained a 1st Level Diploma in classical double bass with M°Luca Cola at the Licinio Refice Conservatory of Frosinone. He then attended the two-year jazz double bass program at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, earning a second-level diploma with 110 with honors.

Since the beginning of his artistic career, he has collaborated with musicians from heterogeneous musical territories and making experiences ranging from ethnic music (Pape Kanoute’, Omou Sangarè, Loire Cotler, Glen Velez), classical music (World Youth Chamber Orchestra, Academia Jovem concertante), music theater (Moni Ovadia, Andrea Rivera, Paolo Jannacci), and pop (Peppe Servillo, Lucio Dalla, Teresa de Sio, Loredana Bertè, Alessio Bonomo). At the same time, he has always based his research on jazz language and various improvisational stylistics.

In that sphere he boasts collaborations, participating in concerts and recordings, with musicians such as Maurizio Giammarco, Javier Girotto, Giovanni Amato, Achille Succi, Franco Piana, Tim Ries, Raffaele Casarano, Gregory Hutchinson, Antonello Salis, Gabriele Mirabassi, Michele Rabbia, Gabriele Coen, Alessandro Gwis, Ettore Fioravanti, Greg Burk, Giancarlo Maurino and many others.

He collaborates permanently with Pilar, Francesco Bruno, Andrea Bonioli 4et, Raf Ferrari 4et, Raffaela Siniscalchi 4et, Federico Ferrandina, LeePuma quartet.

He is co-leader of the projects No trio for cats and Role play trio.

He has an intense recording and live activity in national and international festivals and clubs playing in Sweden, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Tunisia, Switzerland, Albania, Romania.
