JAZZ SAXOPHONE

Javier Girotto at age 19 won a scholarship from Berklee College of Music, where he graduated in Professional Music “Cum Magna Laude.”

He deepened his studies in composition and arrangement and saxophone and improvisation with such masters as Joseph Viola, George Garzone, Hall Crook and Jerry Bergonzi.

He then learned, “the craft,” playing with Danilo Perez, George Garzone, Hall Crook, Bob Moses, Herb Pomeroy and many other musicians.

His first Roman lineup is “Tercer Mundo,” together with Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, on Latin jazz tracks, followed by the “Six Saxes.”

This same period saw the birth of the group for which Girotto’s soprano and baritone saxes are best known, Aires Tango, with Alessandro Gwis, Marco Siniscalco and Michele Rabbia.

In 1999 another group, “Cordoba Reunion,” was formed by four Cordoba musicians, Javier Girotto on saxes and flutes, Gerardo Di Giusto on piano, Minino Garay on percussion and Carlos El Tero Buschini.
