Matteo Cristofori began studying the violin at the age of 4; already at the age of 8 he was awarded in the first national competitions. He studied with G. Cappone and then, after graduating from the “G.B. Pergolesi” Conservatory, perfected his studies in Rome with G. Moench and in Fiesole with F. Cusano.

He collaborates with the Italian Youth Orchestra and the V. Galilei Orchestra. He has attended masterclasses and master classes with B. Korfker, C. Rossi, O. Semchuk, C. de los Santos.

In addition to collaborating with several symphony orchestras and being active as a soloist and chamber musician (in 2017 he performed his “Concerto Breve” for violin and orchestra as a soloist in Florence in its world premiere), he has always turned his attention to the violin language in jazz, blues and contemporary music, participating as a soloist in different ensembles in International Festivals such as UmbriaJazz, International Bluegrass Meeting, International Acoustic Meeting, PiorAcoustic Festival.

He has taught Jazz Violin Masterclasses at major European institutions such as the Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Pamplona (SPA) and the L.U.C.A. School of Arts in Leuven (BEL).

He graduated in composition in the class of M. Ignelzi at the “L. Cherubini” Conservatory of Florence with highest honors. He specialized with S. Sciarrino at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He has attended master classes with S. Gervasoni, H. Lachenmann, D. Marianelli.

In recent years his compositions have been awarded prizes in 6 International Composition Competitions, including the “International Antonìn Dvořàk Composition Competition” in which he was for two years in a row (7th and 8th editions) the only Italian finalist, receiving in 2016 the special prize for the best Passacaglia composed locally.

He also deepened his guitar language with Lello Panico, graduating from the “Saint Louis College of Music” in Rome in 2009.
