VOCALS

A Milan-based singer and composer, Naima Faraò develops an artistic path that interweaves music and visual arts. Active in the independent scene for more than a decade, she moves between alternative soul, nu jazz and contemporary R&B influences.

She recently released her debut solo album Dots, a project of original songs reflecting personal vocal research and a language that blends contemporary jazz, soul and R&B. The record explores themes of introspection, closure and resilience, entrusting the symbol of the dot with the meaning of conclusion and new beginning. Dots has received wide media attention, with airings on BBC Radio 2 (The Jazz Show with Jamie Cullum) and coverage in publications such as MusicaJazz, Rumore, Il Sole 24 Ore, as well as broadcasters such as Radio Capital, Rai Radio3, Rai Radio2, and Radio Monte Carlo. Collaborations on the record include Ilhan Ersahin, Napoleon Maddox and Samir LanGus.

She carries out an intense live activity performing in clubs and festivals in Italy and abroad. She has played at venues such as the Blue Note and Biko in Milan and shared the stage with Serena Brancale at the Big Bang Music Festival. Notable participations include the Lecco Jazz Festival, the FIMU Festival in France-where she performed as a duo with Gio’ Evan-and JazzMI, opening for Seun Kuti’s concert. She also recently made a mini tour of Germany, with concerts in Heidelberg, Freiburg, Greiz and Viechtach.

Parallel to her solo project, she is founder and frontwoman of the alternative soul collective Black Beat Movement, with which she has shared the stage with international artists such as De La Soul, Alpha Blondy, Julian Marley, Hiatus Kaiyote, Luciano, The Coup, Zion Train, Africa Unite, and The Bloody Beetroots. She is also a member of the Artchipel Orchestra, among the most recognized realities of the Italian jazz scene, winner of the Top Jazz award for best ensemble in 2012, 2017 and 2022.

She is also alto of the vocal sextet Elephant Claps, an original project that explores different expressive possibilities through the exclusive use of voice and body, which has won awards in numerous competitions in Italy and abroad.
