JAZZ PIANO

Pietro Lussu, born in Rome on March 21, 1971, began studying classical piano as a child. He later specialized with Mike Melillo, Franco D’Andrea and Stefano Battaglia.

In 1996 he won, with Rosario Giuliani’s quartet, the first prize as best group in the prestigious Europe Jazz Contest in Brussels; he began an intense concert activity with Italian and international musicians: Flavio Boltro, Fabrizio Bosso, Maurizio Giammarco, Paolo Fresu, Stefano Di Battista, Alice Ricciardi, Daniele Scannapieco, Dario Deidda, Joe Lovano and many others.

He has performed within the most prestigious festivals and clubs in Europe and around the world, including: Umbria Jazz, Rome Auditorium, Montreux Jazz Festival and many others.

For the elegance and sensitivity of his pianism, Pietro Lussu boasts numerous collaborations in the recording field as well. There are currently more than 50 recordings to his credit, some of them made for the most prestigious record labels in jazz. Records as a sideman include those with Rosario Giuliani, Fabrizio Bosso, Nicola Conte, Flavio Boltro, Chiara Civello (Sony Music) and many others.
