Since his teenage years, Riccardo Marchese has been performing intensively, performing regularly with various musical ensembles. He boasts collaborations with Italian and international jazz artists, including Scott Hamilton, Ralph Alessi, Maurizio Giammarco, Giovanni Falzone, Luigi Tessarollo and Alberto Mandarini. His versatility also allows him to collaborate with musicians of other genres, such as Vittorio De Scalzi (New Trolls), Vittorio Nocenzi (Banco del mutuo soccorso), Bernardo Lanzetti (PFM) and Maurizio Vandelli (Equipe 84).

He has participated in national and international tours, including one to present Edoardo Liberati’s album “Everyday Life.” He has performed at major music festivals and festivals: Umbria Jazz, Berklee College of Music Performance Center, Casa del Jazz, Northsea ’round town jazz festival, Novara Jazz Festival, Borgo in Jazz and Monfrà Jazz Fest, where he also serves as artistic director.

He operates as a session man for several recording projects, appearing on more than thirty albums of various musical genres. In January 2024, he was selected as the official drummer of the Italian group Elio e Le Storie Tese, participating in the summer tours and the “Concertozzo 2025” event, which gathered more than ten thousand spectators. In January 2026 he became a member of Giovanni Falzone’s “Libera Band,” with which he recorded “Suite for Miles” for Paolo Fresu’s Tǔk Music label.

He also developed a film activity by writing soundtracks for films and short films. In 2021 he composed the music for the feature film “Traces of Madness” directed by Michele Di Rienzo, which was released in Italian theaters in 2022.

He is a member of several bands: “Attilio Sepe 5tet,” “Edoardo Liberati 4tet,” “Alpaca,” “Riccardo Marchese 5tet,” and the progressive rock collective “Beggar’s Farm.” In 2024, his debut recording project, which merges the concept of improvised music with cinematic music, saw the light of day.
