COMPLEMENTARY PLAN
Simone Maggio, a pianist and composer from Grosseto who is active in the contemporary jazz scene.
He prefers a “European” vision of jazz, drawing much from contemporary classical tradition and developing his research using improvisation and composition as instruments of equal importance.
In his training, he has attended many seminars with Italian and international artists(Paul Motian, Enrico Pieranunzi, John Taylor); particularly in Siena Jazz seminars, he studies contemporary jazz with Stefano Battaglia.
After graduating from the Saint Louis College of Music in 2003, he studied with Enrico Pieranunzi. Recently he graduated from the G.P. Pergolesi Conservatory in Fermo.
He has released under his own name several albums, Winds in tunes, Light dawn, “Cuerdas” (Camilla Records). He has also played in various Italian and international festivals (Villa Celimontana jazz, Fano Jazz, InJazz Rotterdam, Manchester Jazz, Pristhina Jazz).
With his trio he played with Lee Konitz and Javier Girotto, the latter a guest on his first record “Light Dawn” (Saint Louis Jazz Collection).
Simone Maggio has been collaborating with double bassist Federica Michisanti for years, participating in her project Trioness. Some of the names he has played and plays with: Nicolas Masson, Francois Corneloup, Francesco Diodati, Emanuele Maniscalco, Fabrizio Sferra, Francesco Lento, Roberto Pianca, Ermanno Baron, Michel Godard.
