The masterclasses will take place during Gianluca Podio’s regular Composition and Songwriting class schedule, but are open to all interested academic course students.

A Case Study in MUSIC PRODUCTION and COMPOSITION:

Nightports is an electronic project, in collaboration with Leaf Label, designed around the possibility of composing experimental electronic music, using only sounds taken from specific artists chosen for each individual project. The seminar will explain the ideological and aesthetic purposes behind the project and analyze some techniques of this style of sound design, such as granular synthesis and glitch editing.

SONG-WRITING: Simplicity, Communication and the Role of the Listener.

The seminar explores the benefits of simplicity within songwriting, particularly with regard to lyrics and structure. The workshop examines different techniques for writing texts, with emphasis toward expressive force and communicative functionality.
Students will be asked to use these techniques in small groups to create texts that consider simplicity, communication and the role of the listener.
