Invisible Cities, a spectacular journey of sound and vision inspired by Italo Calvino, curated by Saint Louis and RUFA, at MAXXI Videogallery.

Inspired by the poetic imagery of Italo Calvino ‘s novel “The Invisible Cities,” students from the Two-Year Program in Live Electronics at Saint Louis College of Music and RUFA’s Visual Arts department bring to life an immersive experience in which music and images dialogue, chase each other, and merge.

Published in 1972, The Invisible Cities is one of Calvino’s most fascinating masterpieces: a fantastic journey through imagined and symbolic cities, told from Marco Polo to Emperor Kublai Khan, where each place is a metaphor for existence, desire, and memory.

In the evocative setting of the Videogallery of MAXXI – National Museum of XXI Century Arts, a show takes shape that connects electronic installations and video projections, to return new readings of Calvinian cities, between reality and imagination, possible architectures and inner landscapes.

An event that combines sound and visual research, the result of a collaboration between two educational entities of excellence, Saint Louis and RUFA, in a common path that explores the evocative potential of contemporary art.
