Matteo Balani, instructor of the custom bass courses at the Saint Louis office in Milan, presents a workshop dedicated to all bass players on Saturday, Feb. 24. During the workshop, Balani will explain the main aspects of studying the instrument, with practical examples and useful tips for improving one’s technique and personal style.

At the new Saint Louis location in Milan, you can enroll in a personalized electric bass course to study with Matteo Balani. Personalized courses in electric bass guitar accompany the student’s needs and the fulfillment of his or her expectations from the acquisition of basic knowledge useful for the study and deepening of the instrument, as well as rhythmic studies and an indispensable repertoire that analyzes the styles of some important landmarks such as Jaco Pastorius, James Jamerson; to the unfolding of a didactic path aimed at achieving the technical skills to fulfill one’s role as a musician solidly prepared to face the professional world in small and large ensembles.

Matteo Balani, bio
Matteo Balani, born in Milan in 1974, is a bassist and music teacher of exceptional talent. A graduate of the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Milan and a specialist in performance and teaching at the “Berklee College of Music,” he divides his activities between teaching and collaborations with well-known artists.

As an electric bass teacher, he has personally trained more than 150 students, giving teaching seminars and/or demonstrations at industry fairs and music schools. For the renowned publishing house Volontè & Co. he has also published teaching methods and translated manuals, some of which are still used in leading Italian conservatories. He has been an assistant to Maestro Bruce Pearson in national seminars on orchestration.

His 25-year career as a live and studio bassist has led him, over the years, to collaborate with many well-known musicians and artists from the Italian scene and beyond, including lately: Andrea Cervetto (New Trolls), Osvaldo Di Dio (Cristiano De Andrè, Franco Battiato), Ace (Skunk Anansie), Max Cottafavi (Ligabue), Nando Bonini (Vasco Rossi), Alex Polifrone (Ruggeri), Eugenio Mori (PFM), Corrado Tedeschi, Leonardo Manera (Zelig), Ornella Vanoni, Alessandro Safina, Dario Ballantini…
He is currently bassist in Luca Colombo’s LCProject and the well-known rock band Rad1.

The combination of his passion for teaching and his considerable live experience make Matteo Balani a leading figure in both the world of music education and live performance
