Open Play, a day of free workshops on music production, mixing, sound design, and film music at the Saint Louis location in Milan, aimed at students, musicians, and enthusiasts of audio production and soundtracks. The appointment is for Saturday, July 4: starting at 12 noon, there will be four intensive sessions taught by industry professionals to explore the craft of sound from different angles. Next, to wrap up the day, starting at 6:00 p.m., there will be a DJ set by students from Saint Louis’s academic electronic music programs, which is also open to the public who want to try their hand at the turntables.

• h 12:-00 – 14:00 Mix Lab – Voice, Sound & Tech. From white paper to final master in real time: voice recording, sound design and mixing come together in one creative flow on stage. Every step in the production chain-from microphone pickup to broadcast-ready master-is shown with open doors, including errors. Edited by DJ Spyne, Fabio Ingrosso, Jolanda Granato.
• h 15:00 – 17:00 Inside the Mix. Listening session with critical analysis of participants’ productions: mix balance, frequency management, dynamics and sound identity. Songs are heard on the stereo track and compared with professional references, with real-time interventions. Edited by Dario Giuffrida.
• h 15:00 – 17:00 Beat Making with Ableton Live. From drums to melody in a few steps: a hands-on path to building a complete beat in Ableton Live, suitable for those who want to start producing hip hop, trap or electronic music using essential tools, effects and techniques. Edited by Alessandro Spoldi.
• 15:00 – 17:00 Cinema and music: a love without end. An overview of the role of music in film and television works: from original soundtracks to the use of pre-existing songs, from leitmotifs to major artistic partnerships. DJ Sets and Jam Sessions

At the conclusion of the workshops, dAt 6:00 p.m., there will be a jam session open to everyone, followed by a DJ set by Saint Louis students. Access is also open to outside DJs who want to put their skills to the test, selected via call on the Saint Louis Instagram channel. Emerging producers, electronic musicians, and DJs will have the opportunity to apply to share the mixing console live with the school’s talented students.
