Scott Henderson, one of the world’s most celebrated fusion guitarists, is known for his incredible technique and ability to blend blues, rock, and jazz into a unique musical language.
His masterclasses provide a valuable opportunity for guitarists of all levels who want to learn from a virtuoso and pioneer of his instrument. Henderson, who has played with such high-caliber bands as Tribal Tech and collaborated with artists such as Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, and Jean-Luc Ponty, brings extensive experience and deep knowledge of the electric guitar.
During his master classes, Henderson explores several fundamental aspects of the guitar, with a special focus on playing technique. One of his most distinctive skills is the use of legato and expressive bending, techniques he teaches in great detail.
Participants learn how to use these techniques to create flowing melodic phrases, enriching their phrasing and lending a bluesy character to their solos.
Another central theme of his lectures is improvisation. Henderson guides students in approaching improvisation in complex contexts, such as fusion and jazz, but with strong roots in the blues. Teaches how to apply pentatonic and modal scales in creative ways, prompting guitarists to break out of predefined patterns and develop a personal style.
The use of effects is another aspect Henderson focuses on in his master classes. As a master of handling complex sounds and using pedals and amplifiers to create distinctive atmospheres, he teaches guitarists how to make the most of these tools to achieve a distinctive and nuanced sound.
Scott Henderson’s master classes offer guitarists the opportunity to improve both technique and musicianship, providing the tools to explore new sonic territories and develop a unique voice in the world of electric guitar.
