Call to participate in the “Lunaria” art residency as part of the international ItArts festival
Selections are open to participate in the “LUNARIA” art residency organized as part of ItArts, the winning project of the PNRR call led by the “A. Casella” Conservatory of L’Aquila, together with important partners from the Italian AFAM and university world, including Saint Louis.
“Lunaria” is a multidisciplinary artistic residency that weaves music, dance, visual arts and electronics around the theme of the moon in the Italian classical music tradition.
The project reinterprets arias, romances and songs from the classical and operatic repertoire that feature the moon, a symbol of mystery, melancholy and transformation.
Through a contemporary ensemble and a collective of artists and dancers, “Lunaria” brings to life an immersive experience that brings into dialogue past and present, body and sound, light and shadow.
The residency will take place in L’Aquila from Jan. 23 to Feb. 8, 2026, at the Teatro dei 99 for the first part of the residency and at theAuditorium of the A. Casella Conservatory of Music for the final days of stage rehearsals and the final performance (Feb. 8), which is open to the public.
Selections are open for students regularly enrolled in Conservatories and AFAM Institutes. In particular:
- singers: pop, jazz and opera
- Instrumentalists: pianists, guitarists, bassists, wind and string instruments
- electronic musicians
- arrangers for atypical organics
- visual artist
- contemporary dancers
- set designers
- costume designers
- lighting technicians
The selected artists will have the opportunity to represent Italian artistic excellence in the last stage in February 2026 in L’Aquila of the Festival international ItArts, contributing to the production and dissemination of contemporary artistic research.
