Saint Louis College of Music was involved in a BIP (Blended Intensive Prrogram) for the second consecutive year.
Conceived by Erasmus partner institution TAI – Escuela Universitaria de Artes in Madrid on the occasion of the MarketScapes project.
Eight selected students from Saint Louis, together with students from LABA – Libera Accademia di Belle Arti of Brescia and the Finnish University of Turku, will bring MARKETSCAPES to life: until the second half of the 20th century, the soundscape of Madrid was filled with the voices of people from different professions who, in the course of their work, sang to sell their products.
Street vendors, barquilleros, and sharpeners drew a soundscape that transformed in the last decades of the 20th century and early 21st. The project involves research work on the survival of sales songs in the markets of the city of Madrid and in the markets of the hometowns of BIP participants, with the creation of songs and installations in urban spaces related to market areas.
Participating in the MarketScapes project, which will take place at TAI in Madrid from March 24-28, 2025, are students Emily Castagna, Flavia Celano, Daniele D’Alessio, Alice Favaro, Francesco Freschet , Matteo Leonelli, Carola Musumarra, and Davide Panci.
