The festival
“Once again we tell the story of cinema through one of its undisputed protagonists, music,” commented Marco Patrignani, creator and artistic director of the Festival, president of the Italian Cinema Orchestra and patron of Forum Studios.
“We do this through the voices of the composers and with two sound recordings of which we are very proud: Avatar in its European premiere and Profondo Rosso with Claudio Simonetti. Bringing the world of Pandora here was a titanic production effort, to stay with Cameron’s theme, but it was worth it“.
Festival venues
In the famous Forum Studios founded by Ennio Morricone, Piero Piccioni, Armando Trovajoli and Luis Bacalov, debates and talks with the composers who helped make the most beloved films famous come to life; while at theAuditorium Conciliazione comes an eagerly awaited international premiere after the first three editions that involved more than 20,000 spectators, industry insiders and fans.
“Avatar Live In Concert”
For the first time in continental Europe, following its world premiere at London’s Royal Albert Hall, comes “Avatar Live In Concert,” the cine-concert version of the all-time box-office record-breaking film.
On the big screen the entire James Cameron film in high-definition, while on the stage theItalian Cinema Orchestra, in its larger 120-piece lineup of orchestra, choir (Vocal Labyrinth and Golden Sections) and soloist Eleanor Grant, conducted by Ludwig Wiki (former conductor of the world premiere), performs James Horner’s score live in sync.
The great composer who died prematurely has already been by Cameron’s side in “Titanic” and “Alien – Final Clash.” Four performances and two cities to attend the event: at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome on Friday, April 11 (at 8:30 p.m.) and Saturday, April 12 (at 8:30 p.m.); at the Arcimboldi Theater in Milan on Saturday, May 24 (at 8:30 p.m.) and Sunday, May 25 (at 3 p.m.).

“It seems like yesterday and yet it’s been 50 years since with Goblin we composed and recorded the soundtrack to Profondo Rosso here at Forum Studios, which was then called Ortophonic,” Claudio Simonetti recounted.
“Never would I have thought then that after 50 years I would be here, not only to talk again about the soundtrack but even to resonate it live in the Forum Theatre, right next to the original studios. We will use the same sounds, the same style, nothing will be different, but the experience will be unique: reviewing the restored film with music played entirely live“.
