Saint Louis at MAXXI

Saint Louis at MAXXI – The Large Glass. On the occasion of “The Large Glass,” an exhibition at MAXXI directed by Alex de la Corte, students from the Three-Year Academic Program of the Saint Louis Department of Electronic Music will set up live electronic music sets, complemented by impromptu performances of various musical instruments. Three different sets-APOGEO, MATERIA and DUALITY-will be set up on Sundays of March 23, March 30 and April 6, 2025.

Through musical performances it is possible to immerse oneself in the essence of the works on display in The Large Glass exhibition, realizing a synergy between the visual and auditory arts.

The harmonic fusion of sound and visual imagery transforms the event into a multi-sensory experience in which art and music intertwine to evoke even more intense emotions.

The initiative, produced in collaboration with MAXXI and Saint Louis College of Music, is a journey of deep artistic immersion and reflection.

Saint Louis students presenting their a.a. 2024/25 membership card can visit the exhibition and attend the performances with reduced admission at €12 (full €15).

EVENTS.

March 23, 2025, h 16:00 – APOGEO

A sonic journey through the invisible spheres that separate and connect, between glass and air, between the visible and the intangible. Apogee is the furthest point where sound is rarefied and the echo of space becomes perception: like wind shaping the landscape or water distorting light.

Saint Louis student performance:
Lorenzo Ginocchietti synth and electronic effects
Giuseppe Santamaria electric bass
Arturo Sinigaglia synth and electronic effects

March 30, 2025, h 4:00 p.m. – MATH.

A live sonification that explores the intrinsic sound of the elements that make up the works, transforming them into abstract soundscapes. Air, water, wood, resin, plastic and glass dialogue with electronics, staging the tension between natural and artificial, man and matter.

performance by Saint Louis students:
Stefano Coco electric guitar
Angelica Colonnelli synth and electronic effects
Lorenzo Guarnacci synth and electronic effects

April 6, 2025, h 16:00 – DUALITY

An encounter between classical and contemporary in which urban and electronic environments alternate to describe the complex reality of modern civilization. The concept of duality is meant to represent the musical flow devoted to the union of peoples and cultures, devoid of the geopolitical barriers, resonating with the surrounding nature and the other side of the suburban world, that of smog and life marked by the frenetic rhythms of work and money.

performance by Saint Louis students:
Federico Baccini synth and electronic effects
Edoardo Donato sax
Jacopo Sisti synth and electronic effects
