“ItARTS. Italy for Arts: Resource, Time and Space” is an internationalization project funded by the MUR under sub-investment T5, “Strategic partnerships/initiatives to innovate the international dimension of the AFAM system,” Investment 3.4 “University Teaching and Advanced Skills” of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, provided under Mission 4 “Education and Research” – Component 1 “Strengthening the supply of services to education: from kindergartens to universities” (D.D. 124/19 July 2023).
The project leader is the “A.Casella” Conservatory of Music of L’Aquila, in partnership with the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, the Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila, the Department of Industrial and Information Engineering and Economics of the University of L’Aquila, and the Interateneo Department of Science, Planning and Policies of the Territory/Curriculum and Media Engineering degree program of the Polytechnic University of Turin.
The purpose of ItARTS is the enhancement of Italy’s artistic-cultural heritage, a treasure trove of knowledge understood both as a tradition inherited from the past and as a performing practice of contemporary arts. Its most important goal is to give resources, time and space to the creation of new artistic projects that are an expression of STEAM culture and the creative synergy it promotes between the languages and methodologies of Science, Art and Technology.
ItARTs envisions the establishment in L’Aquila of a Living Learning Laboratory, an incubator for three purpose-built, multidisciplinary, artistic projects that, from Spring 2025 will be the focus of the ItARTs Festival, a showcase of the best practices of Italian art and music institutions. The festival will travel on an international tour, hosted by a network of EU and non-EU institutions of higher education and artistic production, and will return for the final kermis in L’Aquila Italian Capital of Culture 2026.
