RESIDENT BANDS

Saint Louis produces and supports several orchestral and large ensembles each year, in all musical styles and languages, composed of Saint Louis students.

Orchestras, choirs and resident bands are promoted in Italian clubs and festivals and on the European conservatory circuit, often accompanying nationally and internationally renowned special guests on stage.

LISTENEW ENSEMBLE directed by Paolo Damiani
The art of improvisation, between feeling and doing. An innovative ensemble conceived and directed by Paul Damiani supported by Saint Louis, with concerts in Festivals and Theaters, chironomic direction, improvisation in and out of the box, sound painting.

SAINT LOUIS BIG BAND conducted by Antonio Solimene
The Saint Louis Big Band conducted by Antonio Solimene is an orchestral formation that fully respects the classical big band structure i.e., 4 Trumpets, 5 Saxes, Trombones, Rhythm Section, 6 Choristers.

SOUL TRAIN R-EVOLUTION directed by Michele Papadia
From the idea of SOUL TRAIN, a famous American music program born in ’71, comes an orchestra/ensemble of about 20 elements whose repertoire focuses on ‘BLACK MUSIC’ in its broadest sense.

I LOVE PIZZA directed by Serena Brancale
Original project that aims to create a totally electronic orchestra. Rhythms played only by keyboard/synth players, programmers, and electronic drummers!

LATIN LOUIS COMBO directed by Natalio Mangalavite
Combo dedicated to the free world of Latin-jazz contaminations. A large ensemble consisting of guitarists, singers, keyboardists, bassists, percussionists and wind players. At the piano, Natalio Mangalavite himself.

SAINT LOUIS POP ORCHESTRA conducted by Vincenzo Presta
A 30-musician ensemble directed by Vincenzo Presta, the Saint Louis Pop Orchestra reinterprets the tradition of Italian and international POP music, with original arrangements curated by the teacher and top Saint Louis students.

SAINT LOUIS COMBO directed by Antonio Solimene
A young, light, dynamic formation in style with the mission of promoting new talent, the Saint Louis Combo is a lean ensemble, consisting of vocals, rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, drums), 6 horns-the beating heart of the group-and all the energy of a Big Band, in pocket size!

POP CHORUS directed by Margherita Flore
Margherita Flore’s Pop Choir Laboratory is based on the entirely vocal reworking of songs taken from the international, modern and contemporary Pop scene.

JAZZ CHORUS directed by Cristina Zavalloni
From the jazz vocal groups of the 1950s to the more modern Swingle Singers and collective impro vocal conduction to custom-made arrangements.

ROME CHORUS directed by Claudia Marrs
A choir dedicated to polyphonic and polyrhythmic Brazilian music, whose voices are used for both harmonic/melodic and rhythmic, or rather polyrhythmic, accompaniment.

SINGER-SONGWRITER CHOIR directed by Maria Grazia Fontana
Vocal ensemble whose repertoire is dedicated to classic songs of the Italian singer-songwriter interpreted in an original, fresh and captivating way thanks to the arrangements edited by Maria Grazia Fontana, director of the choir.

FANTASY VOICES directed by Milena Nigro
Multi-stylistic choir whose repertoire ranges from Disney soundtracks to the great classics of popular music, jazz and Brazilian music, with all original arrangements created specifically for the ensemble.

GOSPEL CHORUS directed by Claudia Marss
Polyphony, energy, movement, rhythm, and a repertoire featuring gospel songs and spirituals from the African-American tradition.

SGT. PEPPER’S SAINT LOUIS GUYS directed by Cristina D’Arcangelo
Choral ensemble that re-proposes the best known Beatles pieces, arranged and adapted to be performed a cappella.

SAX ENSEMBLE directed by Rosario Giuliani
5 saxes and rhythm section for the ensemble led by Rosario Giuliani. The ensemble will focus on a repertoire dedicated to the genius of Charlie Parker, proposing his solos, extracted from the standards that were permanently part of his live shows, and arranged with 5 voices, along with some original songs by Rosario Giuliani himself.

SUPERSAX directed by Mauro Massei
The ensemble “Supersax”-a name derived from the famous U.S. lineup of the 1970s, the first with this ensemble-is a small but complete orchestra consisting of 5/6 saxophones plus rhythm with piano, guitar, bass and drums.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK directed by Daniele Pomo

STORYTELLER DIARIES directed by John Candia
Ensemble that provides a synthesis of electronic music and contemporary jazz through the dialogue between electronic sounds and the development of extemporization and improvisation typical of jazz.

SYNTH LOUIS ENSEMBLE conducted by Luca Proietti
New ensemble that was created as a tribute to electronic music, synthesizers and more generally to electronic musical instruments in all their forms.

TWENTY GUITARS directed by Diego Cignitti

Ensemble composed exclusively of electric guitars that reinterprets the repertoire of the great history of Italian and international Rock. 20 guitars that play, explode, harmonize and dialogue. A wall of sound completely new.
