Student council

The Student Council is a body provided for in the Saint Louis Bylaws, from which we quote an excerpt from Article 29 (d).

The Student Council can address requests and make proposals to the Director, the Academic Council and the Board of Directors with particular reference to educational organization, artistic production and student services.

The Student Council is appointed by the Director or his delegate and is a non-honorary position.

The Student Council is composed as follows:

  • by no. 3 (three) students where up to five hundred students are enrolled;
  • by no. Five (5) students where up to one thousand five hundred students are enrolled;
  • by no. 9 (nine) students where up to two thousand students are enrolled;
  • by no. 11 (eleven) students where more than two thousand students are enrolled;
  • Council representative: is appointed by a majority vote of the Student Council.

The Saint Louis Board of Directors shall ensure, within the limits of its budget, the means necessary to carry out the functions of the Student Council.
The Student Council meets at least once a year, at the beginning of the academic year, including by telematics or videoconference. Members of the Student Council serve 2-year terms or lapse upon non-renewal of membership for the academic year.
The council once it chooses its representative should notify the Director.
The Council Representative participates once a year in the meetings of the Academic Council and the Board of Directors in a merely advisory and propositional capacity, with the express exclusion of voting rights as per Art. 20 of these Bylaws. The Advisory Council Representative may be called to additional meetings at the express call of the Board of Directors/Academic Council/Director or may request to be heard by the Board of Directors/Academic Council/Director to report on specific issues.

The Student Council is elected by all students enrolled in pre-academic and academic courses and renewed every two years. It consists of a chairman and at least one representative from each department.

Only alvi who are regularly enrolled in Level I or II academic courses in the current academic year are eligible to apply (elective). Elections take place anonymously through a computer system and are held over a three-week period. All alumni enrolled in Level I and II pre-academic and academic courses are eligible to vote (voter9.
