Bebo Ferra

He is one of Italy’s leading jazz guitarists.

Bebo Ferra has played, recorded and collaborated with many other leading exponents of Italian and international jazz including: Alex Foster, John Clark, Enrico Rava, Enrico Pieranunzi, Steve Grossmann, Maria Pia de Vito, Jim Black, Billy Cobham, Peter Bernstein, Joe Lovano, Dedè Ceccarelli, Rita Marcotulli, Franco Ambrosetti, Franco D’Andrea and many more.

He has recorded about a hundred records, including about 20 as a leader and co-leader, and his activity, in addition to his concert activity in the jazz sphere, is also developed with the composition of film music.

He has recorded, as a soloist with the Orchestra Della Scala in Milan, stage music and has collaborated with many leading exponents of Italian theater in multimedia and recording projects, and some exponents of pop music such as Ornella Vanoni, Sergio Cammariere and Antonella Ruggero.

As a guitarist he boasts a number of awards: first prize in the Jazz Contest 91 held by Corriere della Sera, with the group Sardinia Quartet, first prize as the best acoustic guitarist of the year 2011 in the referendum held by InSound magazine, as well as several nominations as both acoustic and electric guitarist, also for InSound magazine in the years 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

The nomination for the Italian jazz Awards for Best Jazz Act in 2009.

Bebo Ferra performs in various formations, from Solo to Duo with Paolino Dalla Porta (double bass), with Javier Girotto (soprano and baritone sax), with Rita Marcotulli (piano) or with Paolo Fresu (trumpet), with the Voltage trio, with Gianluca Di Ienno on piano and organ and Nicola Angelucci on drums, with the Metafisica delle Scimmie quartet, which features Fulvio Sigurtà on trumpet, Salvatore Maiore on double bass and Alessandro Paternesi on drums at his side.
