Bob Stoloff

Bob Stoloff, who grew up first in Port Washington, played numerous instruments as a teenager and from 1967 to 1969 graduated from the High School of Music and Art in New York City, then worked as a musician.

He studied percussion from 1974 to 1976 at Berklee College of Music, also beginning to sing during this period. In later years he worked as a studio musician and played as a sideman drummer on numerous albums.

In 1983 he was appointed to Berklee College, where he taught scat. In 1984 he participated (with Urszula Dudziak, Jay Clayton, Jeanne Lee and, in part, Bobby McFerrin) in the Vocal Summit tour of Europe. He also performed with Joey Blake and Bobby McFerrin.

He has presented several textbooks on jazz singing and continues to teach as an adjunct professor at Berklee College, where he was deputy head of the voice department.

Bob Stoloff also directed vocal training at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador. He is featured on recordings with the Jazz Harp Trio and the Boston-based group The Ritz.
