Joe Farnsworth (South Hadley – Massachusetts, 1968) is enrolled in the ranks of the world’s best drummers.

Born into a family of musicians, he began “chewing” jazz at an early age when his older brother played him vinyls of Count Basie, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker. It was in Boston in his college days that the young Farnsworth had the opportunity to meet the likes of Harold Mabern and George Coleman, whom he would soon identify as his mentors.

Jeo Farnsworth’s move to the Big Apple corresponds to his assiduous activity at the Smoke Club where he was able to develop his talent and weave a series of important collaborations that led to a partnership first with Jon Hendricks and later with Diana Krall.

Jeo Farnsworth with more than seventy albums as a sideman and some successful productions as a leader (the debut album entitled Beautiful Friendship for Criss Cross Jazz was in 1998), numerous tours that have seen him grace the stages of the most famous jazz clubs and festivals around the world, Joe Farnsworth is also a highly regarded teacher as well as an endorser for Zildjian.
