Giovanni Mazzarino

Giovanni Mazzarino has been playing and professionally involved in Jazz Music since 1985.

He is considered by specialized critics to be one of the best Italian pianists and composers; his most important collaborations include: Enzo Randisi, Gianni Basso, Franco Cerri, Massimo Urbani, Enrico Rava, Flavio Boltro, Paolo Fresu, Fabrizio Bosso, Stefano Di Battista, Franco Ambrosetti, Francesco Cafiso, Mark Murphy, Steve Swallow, Tom Harrell, Randy Brecker, Steve Grossmann, Bob Mintzer, Bobby Durham, Lester Bowie, Jimmy Cobb, Adam Nussbaum, Eddie Henderson, Mike Goodrick, Hal Crook, Bucky Pizzarelli, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Anne Ducros… and many others.

In 2002 he took 1st place as “Best New Italian Talent” for the Top Jazz Referendum held by the specialized magazine Musica Jazz.

In 2009 the same referendum consecrated him among the best three Italian pianists along with Stefano Bollani and Dado Moroni.

In 2003 he was awarded the Best New Musician Top Jazz Award. The film-concert Pianiparalleli Live in Fazioli Concert Hall, which documents the making of the record project of the same name with Steve Swallow, Adam Nussbaum, Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Silvestri and the Arrigoni String Academy, is included in the schedule. He teaches Jazz Improvisation at the Music Conservatory of Messina (Sicily) and Jazz piano at the Conservatories of Cosenza and Udine.
