Antonio Righetti

After the classic apprenticeship, Righetti in 1986 joined the Reggio Emilia-based group Rocking Chairs, with whom he recorded four albums-New Egypt (1987), Freedom Rain (1989), No Sad Goodbyes (1990), and Hate and Love Revisited (1991)-and the opportunity to play in Italy and outside of it (the last two albums were in fact recorded in the United States), as well as to collaborate with artists such as Willie Nile, Robert Gordon, and Elliott Murphy.

But the collaboration that will make him known to the public is the one with Luciano Ligabue: it is 1994 when the rocker from Correggio calls him for a concert in Essen together with Clan Destino, and he confirms it when he finds himself forming a new band after the previous one has embarked on a solo career.

Righetti was chosen by Liga, thus becoming the bassist of the Band, finding himself playing among others with Roberto Pellati and Mel Previte, old friends with whom he had shared the Rocking Chairs experience and with whom he carried on the side project Mel Previte & the Gangsters of Love.

With Ligabue Rigo he records albums from Happy Birthday Elvis to First and Last Name (inclusive), taking part in most of the tours, including acoustic theater tours, where in addition to electric bass in many pieces he tries his hand at double bass.

In the early years of the new millennium, in parallel with his work with Luciano Ligabue, Righetti began working on his own album.

The result is Songs from a room vol. 1, a 5-track mini-album (4 unreleased songs plus a cover) with English lyrics that saw the light of day in 2005, with an American roots sound. On the album, in addition to singing and playing bass, he also records some guitar parts.

In 2007 he began production on his second solo work,[1] which was mixed at Sonic Ranch Studios in El Paso, Texas, by Fabrizio Simoncioni and released in 2009 as Smiles & Troubles on Irma Records.

In 2009 he co-participated in the Jimi Hendrix tribute, where he played bass for Ulrich Roth and Richie Kotzen, and played at the Bob Dylan tribute night held with Steve Wynn and Chris Cacavas at Hana-Bi in Marina di Ravenna.

In September he participated with his cover of September 29 in the celebration of Battisti and Mogol’s song in Modena’s Piazza Grande.
