Nick Johnston

Canadian guitarist who combines shred with more classical sounds in an unprecedented mix of rock, fusion and metal that he calls Atomic Rock.

Nick Johnston will show his technique in detail during his clinic, focusing on bending care and intonation, vibrato control, and shred openings in phrasing.

Canadian guitarist with already three solo works to his credit: “Public Display Of Infection” (2011), “In A Locked Room On The Moon” (2013) with guests Paul Gilbert and Guthrie Govan, “Atomic Mind” (2014) with Marco Minnemann, Bryan Beller and Guthrie Govan.

A former field hockey player, Nick began playing guitar at age 14, inspired by Eddie Van Halen, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Yngwie Malmsteen.

Technically very gifted, he uses a mix of approaches on the neck, from alternate to hybrid, legato and tapping, all dosed with elegance, moving in his compositions on rock, metal, fusion registers–or as he says himself, “Atomic Rock.”
