At the age of 4 he got his hands on a toy guitar with only three strings and was allowed to accompany his brothers in rehearsals.

Even at such a young age, he was able to play precise chords. As a result, he began to tour with his brothers playing in dances at an early age.

Being immersed in a musical environment, he was regularly in contact with other musicians. One of them, the late Joe Rossi (who taught accordion to his older brother Gérard), suggested that he listen to (and offered him an LP of) Joe Pass (Portraits of Duke Ellington).

This and other encounters at his parents’ home (especially guitarist Michel Ducau-Lucart, who offered him his first guitar) led him to listen to and appreciate jazz music.

At age 9 he first performed on an album with his brothers (Elgarrekin) and played in the first part of a Joe Dassin concert with a local band.

He also enters the Bayonne Conservatory of Music. Although guitar is his instrument of choice, there were no courses for guitar at the conservatory, so he chose to study cello and acquired a taste for classical music.

Luc commented that studying the cello helped him strengthen his fingers, which was helpful for the guitar.

At the age of 12 he performed on a second album with his brothers, Oinakarin. Throughout his career he also learned to play other instruments, including mandolin, violin, and bass guitar.
