Mike Clark

Mike Clark’s career began with Herbie Hancock ‘s group in the early 1970s, where he was recognized internationally as one of America’s most eminent funk and jazz drummers.

Often likened to the “Tony Williams of funk,” Mike instead considers himself a jazz drummer, becoming one of the genre’s most vital during his career.

Mike Clark has played with jazz giants such as Herbie Hancock and Chet Baker. A former faculty member of the Drummers Collective, his book “Funk Drumming: Innovative Grooves & Advanced Concepts,” published last year by Hal Leonard, is considered a best seller, offering valuable insights into the world of funk drumming and further cementing his reputation in the field of jazz drumming.
