Nuka Alice Lund

Nuka Alice Lund is one of the pioneers of the revitalization of Inuit drum dance and song in Greenland. Not only is she a keeper of songs that she broadcasts when she teaches, but she also creates her own drum songs. He learned drum dancing from Pauline Lumholt in 2009 and also created the first of his drum songs in the same year.

Nuka Alice has expanded her repertoire and is now ready to perform a full set with her own songs and songs written with others, which she interweaves with storytelling.

Today Nuka Alice devotes herself full-time to drum dancing and devotes this part of her life to performing, creating and teaching drum dance songs to keep the tradition of Greenlandic Inuit drum dancing and singing alive. A tradition that has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2021.

Nuka Alice performed the Inuit drum dance in different constellations. In 2017, together with esteemed East Greenland drum dancer Anda Kuitsi, she opened the fall gathering of the Greenlandic parliament as the first drum dancer to do so. Nuka Alice also opened the annual Arctic Sounds music festival, which began in 2014.

Nuka Alice has taught dance with Inuit drums at Knud Rasmussenip hĂžjskolea, Serravik Music School and also as a guest teacher at the National Theater School.
