Massimo Nunzi composes and conducts for multifarious ensembles, from string quartet to wind ensembles, from Big Band jazz to Symphony Orchestra.In recent years, while continuing to compose and perform music for radio, TV, film and theater, he has devised original formats of musical popularization with high audience interaction.
He debuted as a trumpet player and played with Don Cherry, Lester Bowie, Dizzy Gillespie, John Cage, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Enrico Pieranunzi, Gianluigi Trovesi, Christian Meyer, Gabriele Mirabassi, Gianluca Petrella, Mederic Collignon, Maria Laura Baccarini, treading the stages of festivals, clubs and Italian theaters in the 1980s and 1990s, 2000, conducting the RAI orchestra, participating in radio programs of RadioRAI and film productions Istituto Luce, Cattleya, Rai Cinema, Indigo and RAI TV films and programs.
From 2019 to 2023, Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica “Ennio Morricone” expands its educational offerings by including an orchestra workshop dedicated to youngsters, the Jazz Campus Kids Orchestra, and entrusts its direction to Massimo Nunzi. He performs concerts with Jazz Campus at the Quirinale, Umbria Jazz and twice at the Roma Jazz Festival.
